अनुसूचित बैंक भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक (RBI) अधिनियम,1934 की दूसरी अनुसूची के तहत विनियमित हैं।गैरअनुसूचित बैंक बैंकिंग विनियमन अधिनियम,1949 के तहत विनियमित हैं।वर्तमान में भारत में 27 सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंक उपलब्ध हैं, इसमें 19 राष्ट्रीयकृत बैंक शामिल हैं,06 भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (एसबीआई) और उसके सहयोगी बैंक,02 अन्य सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंक (भारतीय महिला बैंक और आईडीबीआई बैंक) और 02 बैंक नए प्रस्तावित (इंडिया पोस्ट पेमेंट्स बैंक) हैं।भारत में 20 से अधिक निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक भी उपलब्ध हैं।
